On Friday, Nov. 1, construction crews will resume major roadwork along Pioneer Crossing and 800 West, weather permitting. The work will begin at 7 a.m. and is expected to continue throughout the day, focusing on grind-in striping, a process that involves grinding off a thin layer of asphalt before laying down fresh paint striping.
The planned work zones include the entire north side of westbound Pioneer Crossing from Crossroad Blvd to the Mountain View Corridor intersection, as well as along 800 West from Rattler Road to 1200 North.
Motorists should prepare for temporary lane closures, lane shifts, and traffic control panels, though all roads and intersections will remain open. The dedicated right-turn lane from Crossroad Blvd onto westbound Pioneer Crossing will be closed, but right turns will still be allowed at the traffic signal. Drivers are advised to expect slower traffic and possible congestion, with alternative routes encouraged if possible.
This week’s construction has included power line rerouting along 800 West, with the installation of new poles farther west to allow for upcoming roadway expansion. Additionally, telecommunication crews have been relocating phone, cable, and internet lines in preparation for the road’s widening.
Currently, the project is about halfway complete, with an anticipated wrap-up in early December. However, progress is increasingly dependent on weather conditions as colder temperatures set in.
The complexity of this project involves coordination among multiple stakeholders, including the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), which oversees portions of the project, and Saratoga Springs City, which manages 800 West (an extension of Mountain View Corridor). Further coordination with utility providers in gas, power, telecommunications, storm drains, and irrigation has been essential to maintaining service continuity while expanding the roadway.
In the coming weeks, construction efforts will intensify with ongoing utility trenching, storm drain installation, and relocation work. This will bring more active lane shifts, temporary closures, and night work as crews navigate traffic-heavy zones like Crossroad Blvd., Pioneer Crossing, Mountain View Corridor, and 800 West.
