Wride Park Splash Pad Operating Information

Post Date:07/01/2018 8:30 PM
Our apologies for not providing broader notice that the Wride Park splash pad would not be operating on July 1. The grand opening on June 30 was the first day the system had operated for a full day. The parks department felt it was important to not run it today so that it can be evaluated that it is working properly. The splash pad has a recirculating system and the chemical balance must meet health department requirements. There are also manufacturer recommendations about having the system shut down once per week for proper maintenance.
The parks department is being very cautious to start with so that we don't end up with damage to the system or improper balance where the splash pad will have to be shut down for a long period of time. Once the parks department has a better idea how the system is responding to its level of use, the operating schedule may be adjusted. We have heard concerns from residents who would like it to be operating on Sunday and will take that into consideration. Ultimately the schedule will be determined by what is best for proper operation and maintenance of the splash pad. We will provide an update prior to next weekend as to whether or not it will be open Sunday, July 8 and any new information, if it is available, as to what the long-term schedule may be. Current operating hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

We will also be updating our website in the coming week with information about the park, including the process for reserving the pavilions.

We appreciate your patience as we work through these details.
